If only he put half of that deep thought into his career.Īt one point, Milton explains the pains of Hell saying, “It’s not about the fire, it’s the video feed.” I have to wonder if Hell has “Drive Angry” on a continuous loop.Because of his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Walt Disney swashbuckler film series Pirates of the Caribbean (2003–2017), Depp became one of the most financially successful movie stars of the 2000s. It has the insanely underrated (and underused) William Fichtner and David Morse and even throws in a taste of car classics like “Vanishing Point.” However, “Drive Angry” isn’t half as cool or cult-worthy as “Vanishing Point.” It should have been a camp-fest like “Piranha 3D.” Instead, all we get it Nicolas Cage breaking out of Hell and taking it way too seriously. “Drive Angry” had a miserable debut, placing ninth for its opening weekend. Is the 3D enough to make “Drive Angry” worthy of your film dollars? We could ask audiences, but apparently there weren’t any. But frankly, who cares? This film is all about stylistic kills, and there are plenty of ’em. There’s also a whole lot of depth to this film’s 3D image (of course not in the plot!). The film uses guts to display its 3D glory. Of course, that’s followed by a tire iron, barrages of bullets, multiple knee blowouts, and at least one baseball bat through the eye. Right from the get-go, there are some pretty evil 3D images. Filmmakers have repeatedly made efforts to let potential paying audiences know that this film was shot in 3D, and it shows. Is it the stare? His super-cool hair? She actually tries to explain in a climactic speech, which makes absolutely no sense - much like a lot of this movie.ĭespite the crap-o-riffic plotline, “Drive Angry” does have some pretty awesome 3D effects. It’s actually really confusing why she would go along for the ride. For unknown reasons, half-his-age hottie Piper (Amber Heard) tags along for the mayhem. Instead, he’s a little something from the afterlife, out to find the cult that kidnapped his baby’s baby. He’s not really a machine either, regardless of what Cage’s robotic acting may indicate. However, it is crap with plenty of ass-kicking, cool cars, boob-a-licious babes, and pretty cool 3D effects.Ĭage plays Milton, a man with a mission. Of course, the dartboard that Cage uses to pick his scripts has been on a winning streak lately, with 2009’s “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans” and 2010’s “Kick-Ass.” So it’s inevitable that “Drive Angry” would be a steaming pile of crap. In “Drive Angry,” that hair and the rest of Cage is in 3D. His hair may or may not be a deciding factor as well. I think the guy says yes to pretty much every movie offer that isn’t porn, and every 13th movie or so is actually good.

9/1/2023 0 Comments Red lantern oath backgroundHal Jordan was introduced in Showcase #22 (September–October 1959). Hal Jordan received his ring from a dying alien and was commissioned as an officer of the Green Lantern Corps, an interstellar law enforcement agency overseen by the Guardians of the Universe. He had a new name, a redesigned costume, and a rewritten origin story. Hal Jordan's powers were more or less the same as Alan Scott's, but otherwise this character was completely different from the Green Lantern character of the 1940s. In 1959, Julius Schwartz reinvented the Green Lantern character as a science fiction hero named Hal Jordan. His costume was redesigned and the source of his powers was changed to that of the mystical power of nature (referred to in the stories as "the Green"). In 2011, the Alan Scott character was revamped. Between 19, DC Comics changed Alan Scott's superhero codename to "Sentinel" in order to distinguish him from the newer and more popular science fictional Green Lanterns. He never got another solo series, although he did star in individual stories and in the single-issue 2002 comic book Brightest Day, Blackest Night. Initially, he made guest appearances in other superheroes' books, but eventually got regular roles in books featuring the Justice Society. When superheroes came back in fashion in later decades, the character Alan Scott was revived, but he was forever marginalized by the new Hal Jordan character who had been created to supplant him (see below). The Green Lantern comic book was cancelled with issue #38 (May–June 1949), and All Star Comics #57 (1951) was the character's last Golden Age appearance. He also appeared in All Star Comics as a member of the superhero team known as the Justice Society of America.Īfter World War II the popularity of superheroes in general declined. Most stories took place in New York.Īs a popular character in the 1940s, the Green Lantern featured both in anthology books such as All-American Comics and Comic Cavalcade, as well as his own book, Green Lantern. Alan Scott fought mostly ordinary human villains, but he did have a few paranormal ones such as the immortal Vandal Savage and the zombie Solomon Grundy. The limitations of the ring were that it had to be "charged" every 24 hours by touching it to the lantern for a time, and that it could not directly affect objects made of wood. From this, he crafted a magic ring which gave him a wide variety of powers. This Green Lantern's real name was Alan Scott, a railroad engineer who, after a railway crash, came into possession of a magic lantern which spoke to him and said it would bring power. He first appeared in the Golden Age of Comic Books in All-American Comics #16 (July 1940), published by All-American Publications, one of three companies that would eventually merge to form DC Comics. Martin Nodell (initially using the pen-name Mart Dellon) created the first Green Lantern in collaboration with Bill Finger. See also: Green Lantern (comic book) Golden Age They have been adapted to television, video games, and motion pictures. The Green Lanterns are among DC Comics' longest lasting sets of characters. Other notable Green Lanterns include Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, Simon Baz, Jessica Cruz and Jo Mullein. During the Bronze Age of Comic Books, Dennis O'Neil and Neal Adams introduced John Stewart, a new member of the Corps who was one of DC's first black superheroes. For the Silver Age of Comic Books, John Broome and Gil Kane reinvented the character as Hal Jordan in 1959 and introduced the Green Lantern Corps, shifting the nature of the character from fantasy to science fiction. The first Green Lantern character, Alan Scott, was created in 1940 by Martin Nodell with scripting or co-scripting of the first stories by Bill Finger during the Golden Age of Comic Books and usually fought common criminals in Capitol City (and later, Gotham City) with the aid of his magic ring. The characters are typically depicted as members of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic law enforcement agency. They fight evil with the aid of rings that grant them a variety of extraordinary powers, all of which come from imagination, fearlessness, and the electromagnetic spectrum of emotional willpower. Green Lantern is the name of several superheroes appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The birth date month, 11, will be reduced to 1+1= 2,Īnd, the birth date year, 1991, will be reduced to 1+9+9+1= 20, which will be further reduced to a final number, 2+0= 2. The date of birth, 14, will be reduced to 1+ 4=5, Now, let’s reduce the elements of this date of birth to a single-digit number (root number, so to speak). Let’s say your birth certificate reads 14 th of November, 1991. Let me give you an example of how to discover your numerology life path number from your birthday. To calculate the root numbers, simply reduce the double-digit numbers from your birth date, (apart from 11, 22, and 33 which are regarded as master numbers), until you extract a single-digit number, which most numerologists refer to as your life path number. You need to find the root number of the month, exact date, and year you were born. To find your numerology life path number, as stated earlier, you must analyze your birth date. This number reveals all your dominant traits in the present, strengths, weaknesses, talents, ambitions, and the attributes that you’re likely to possess throughout your lifetime.Īdditionally, this number reveals the tone of your experiences, giving you an idea of why certain events have occurred to you in the past, are occurring now, and are likely to occur in the future. Your life path number is determined by your date of birth (birthday). How Can You Calculate Your Life Path Number? Of course, some tend to use both methods for a more accurate numerology reading. While some numerologists carry out numerology readings by calculating a person’s life path number, other numerologists do a numerology reading with a person’s destiny number. There are mainly two essential elements one must focus on to do a numerological analysis. Therefore, through numerological analysis, different numerologists can help an individual understand his world better, assist him in finding his heart’s desires, and enable him to discover his true purpose in life. Numerology, thus, shares the belief that everything in the world can be equated to numbers, even a person. Numerology readings work on the faith that the Universe is a large, gigantic system and when it’s broken down to its bare bones, it’s left with simple rudimentary elements-numbers. Numerology states that certain numbers are closely linked with particular traits or themes and are hence capable of providing insights into one’s personality and finding out what the future holds for him/her. Then, as you dive deep into the art of numerology readings, you’ll find recognizable patterns everywhere, even on the clock, for example. Numerology readings, as you may have deduced, use all forms of recurring digits associated with you, be it in the form of birth dates, home addresses, birth name, middle name, license plates, etc. Most numerologists often use numerology as a companion to astrology, as the study of numbers offers a person a better understanding of how he expresses himself and how he uses his inherent energy-in essence, numerology refines the clarity of the astrological sign. Through a numerology reading, you can recognize the subliminal patterns and spiritual significance of the Universe, predict your future, and discover yourself in a new light. Numerology pushes the idea that one can draw different life meanings from the appearance of specific core numbers, letters, symbols, and number combinations. Like astrology, it has been an art form observed for centuries, with ancient Babylonian practices paving the way for Chaldean numerology and the Kabbalistic studies of Jewish mysticism scrutinizing the appearance of recurring numbers within the Old Testament. Studying and calculating digits and number sequences isn’t a recent phenomenon. In a nutshell, numerology can be described as the mystical study of core numbers. By the way, if you’re not familiar with using the with statement to save a file, here’s some material about writing to file in Python. The two objects fast_car1 and fast_car2 are two distinct objects with different locations in memory however, they have the same attributes and methods. Note the different modes we use for serializing (' wb') and deserializing (' rb'). With open('fast_car_object.pkl', 'rb') as in_file: To unpickle this file, simply do the following: With open('fast_car_object.pkl', 'wb') as out_file:Įxecuting this code produces the file fast_car_object.pkl in your current working directory. With the safety briefing over, let’s continue with an example of pickling and unpickling in Python: Therefore, never unpickle data received from an untrusted source. But before we do, a word of caution: as stated in the official documentation, the Python pickle module is not secure against maliciously constructed data that can execute foreign code. We’ll take a closer look at the first two below. The two other methods are dumps() and loads(), which serialize objects without saving them to file. The two we’ll use for our case are dump() and load(), which saves and loads pickle files, respectively. The Python pickle module stores the data in a binary form, so it isn’t human-readable. Functions and classes can be serialized, and as we will see below, so can instances of classes. A large number of objects can be pickled, including Booleans, integers, floats, and strings, as well as data structures such as lists, dictionaries, sets, etc. The Python pickle module is an easy-to-use module for serializing (pickling) and deserializing (unpickling) objects in Python. Now we would like to serialize the fast_car1 object so we can come back and use it later without having to instantiate it again. Let’s take it for a drive for 8 km, then check the fuel level: We can create a car object with an efficiency of 5 km/L and a fuel level of 12 L as follows: Self.fuel_level -= distance / self.efficiency Print('Traveled %s km, out of fuel'%(max_distance)) Max_distance = self.fuel_level * self.efficiency The following class allows you to drive a car a certain distance given its fuel level and efficiency:ĭef _init_(self, efficiency, fuel_level): These are the class methods, which are written as functions within the class. Cars can also have several actions associated with them, such as driving a certain distance. The important attributes for our car class are the current fuel level and the efficiency (how much fuel it consumes per kilometer). We also have some material that builds on top of that and shows you how to write a custom module in Python.Īn object in Python has attributes (like its properties) and methods (things it can do). The focus of this article isn’t on classes, so if you want more details on how classes work, take a look at this article. Let’s get into it and create a class for driving a car. This means you can serialize data stored in a list, a dictionary, or even instances of classes. Remember that Python is an object-oriented language almost everything is considered an object. |
